Inspired by Twombly's blackboard series, series of looping began this work, each row of varying heights, created with various grades of graphite. Using sennelier oil pastel to number, the height of each row of loops guided the size of each respective number, then came the layering. Drawing and walking, the rows took on life and uneveness, some merging with others, as the layers in a landscape often do. The giant circles were nothing more than the motion of the arm from the shoulder, but creating lens through which we view surrounding landscape, or just surroundings, some crystal clear, others sometimes obscured.
