These works began as an abstract acrylic painting, very busy and saturated. After resting, and getting into oil painting, portions of the underpainting lived through the calming down of the oil painting and took on structural elements, assisted by graphite mark-making resembling armature. These images reminded me of the structures and sculptures found in the Burning Man sculptures brought to the playa for each event. Each piece is 42" square, painted on arches oil paper, then adhered with an archival glue to a birch cradled panel and set into a maple float frame.
