For the Comforts of Life, We Must Fabricate Them Ourselves, 2017
Oil on canvas
30 x 54 x 1.5 in
An abstract landscape, painted before and during the September fires in the west, so it was influenced by the deep black-reds, as well as melting ice and floods. Up close the deep reds and charcoal are rich and seemingly thick, resembling the photos of the deep, thick fires. After a bit of drying I stenciled this burst with various colors. Oil on 30x54 stretched canvas.
